Every few hours the world produces a calamity: a hugely buffed boss that spawns somewhere on
the map, announces itself, and has to be put down inside a time limit. Everyone who helps is
paid.
Calamities must be enabled on your server.
Calamities do not appear on an empty or under-levelled server, and they never spawn on top of
world spawn.
The boss is a Tensura monster with 3× health and 2× damage, named, glowing and unable to
despawn. By default the pool is Orc Lord, Arch Daemon, the
Lich Boss and the Gravebound Colossus.
This is the mechanic that defines a calamity fight.
The boss spawns with a shield that reduces all player damage to zero. To break it, a number
of distinct players must land hits within a rolling 15-second window. The number required
scales with how many people are online — roughly half the server, capped at 5.
If the population is small enough that only one breaker is required, the shield does not turn on
at all — a quiet server gets a plain fight.
If the shield goes unbroken for 5 minutes, the requirement drops by one and the server is
told. So a raid that loses people partway through is not permanently locked out.
Hits absorbed by the shield still count toward breaking it — but they earn no reward credit,
because they dealt no damage.
Three limits shape how a calamity fight plays:
| Limit | Default |
|---|---|
| Max damage per hit | 50 |
| One player’s share of total damage | 25% of the boss’s max health |
| Boss healing | reduced to 25% of normal |
The share cap only applies once at least 4 players are online. When you hit it you are told
once, and further hits deal nothing.
The point of these is that a calamity cannot be deleted by one overgeared player. It is a
group event by construction, and the numbers are what enforce that.
If the boss heals, your share-cap budget is refunded proportionally. Without that, bosses
with heavy sustain were mathematically unkillable — the group would run out of damage budget
before the boss ran out of health.
When the boss dies:
Loot spawns as glowing item entities at the death site, locked to you — nobody can steal
your keys, and they last 10 minutes before despawning.
The defeat itself is a ceremony: a narration, a chat summary with fight duration and a top-three
damage table, and lightning and particles at the corpse.
You must be online when the boss dies to be paid. There is no mailbox for offline
contributors.
You do not have to wait for the kill to know where you stand: once you have landed a hit, the
Boss Contribution panel shows the top three and your own share
live, and turns green the moment you cross the 10% line.
